תליית ישו


The Teliya Ye.Sh.U. (תליית ישו: Hanging Esav) or Tole in Yiddish is a 12 section tale based on Yohanan Ben Zakkai's story of Ben Stada from which the Gentiles' so-called "Toledot Yeshu" and other such tales originated.

It is referred to by Rashi as a tradition describing the origins of the Evangelion with legitimate Jews who infected their culture for the good of all Jews.

Hagahos Baruch Frankel on 580 also refers to this manuscript.

The Teliya was read often over a game of Trumps on Nittle Nacht (ניטל נאכט), the first night of Kalenda. The word Nittle (ניטל) is the Yiddish pun used for the Nativity of the Evangelion after Dositheus (the Ashkenazi version of "Krampus") was hanged. The Ashkenazi version of Santa is the Spirit of Elijah.

The Teliya Ye.Sh.U. is the origin story for the Evangelion from the Judaic perspective. It could be described as a second book of Acts which has only preserved in Judaism. It is the inspiration behind certain apocryphal books such as the Acts of Peter and the many doctored versions of the story which are known as the Toledot Yeshus; many corrupted versions of the Teliya which emerged from Jews converted to Christianity under the 1588 laws of the Polish-Lithuanian Republic as well as from Karaites of Worms to slander Jews in other parts.

In its original condition the Teliya is usually told in 12 parts:


  1. Part 1 is always an expansion of the Sanhedrin.67a.15 origin story of Dositheus HaMitzri.
  2. 'Part 2 is always about his Karaite tendencies in childhood. '
  3. Part 3 is always about the Baetylus in Jeroboam's Sanctuary and is based on Shabbat 104b:5 and Sotah 47a.6-15 and Sanhedrin 107b:12-14
  4. Part 4 is always about Dositheus making Helene of Adiabene believe in him but is not always included.
  5. Part 5 is always an explanation of Berakhot 17b:1 demonstrating how Dositheus messed up by pushing too far after he had convinced Helene of Adiabene. It always includes his floating on water using Millstones to scare the messengers of Herod Agrippa II (who had been convinced by Paul) and his airborne battle with St Peter which also appears in the Acts of Peter.
  6. Part 6 is how St Jude helped Herod Agrippa II and Beit Hillel catch Dositheus.
  7. Part 7 is always about the trials and is based on Sanhedrin 43a:23-26 and Sanhedrin 43a:20-22
  8. Part 8 is always an explanation of Sanhedrin.67a.14 and Gittin.57a.3-4 as the way to bury witches.
  9. Part 9 is a back story for Avodah Zarah 16b:17 and Avodah Zarah 17a:1-2 and Jerusalem Talmud Avodah Zarah 2:2.11 and Jerusalem Talmud Shabbat 14.4.13
  10. Part 10 is always the backstory for Shabbat 116a.11 to 116b.2
  11. Part 11 is always about Judaizers and the backstory to Berakhot 29a:9
  12. Part 12 is always about Shabbat 116a.10 and how the teachings of Rav Shimeon became Torat Edom.
